Reinhold Knoll is specialized in M&A, company law, insurance law, energy law and general commercial law. He has many years of experience in the automobile and automobile supplier industry, as well as in electronics.
Reinhold Knoll also gained extensive experience in various supervisory boards and advisory boards. He was a member or chairman of supervisory boards of various German subsidiaries of ITT and of advisory boards of Deutsche Bank, Gerling and HDI. He was chairman for many years of the supervisory board of the insurance company Transatlantische Lebensversicherung AG, deputy chair of the supervisory board of the life insurer Aspecta Lebensversicherung AG and a member of the supervisory board of the utility Stadtwerke Leipzig GmbH. He was a member of the legal committee of the Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce through 2012.
Reinhold Knoll started his legal career in 1969 as a member of the legal department at BMW AG in Munich, and was appointed General Counsel in 1971. In 1974 he was named general secretary of Mahle GmbH in Stuttgart and in 1978 was named General Counsel at AEG-Telefunken AG in Frankfurt. In 1981 Reinhold Knoll joined Standard Elektrik Lorenz AG in Stuttgart, initially as general counsel and chief representative, later as a member of the Management Board on the Finance and Law Committee. In 1990 he became a partner at Dr. Mohren und Partner, and in 1996 at Beiten Burkhardt, where he was tasked with founding and managing the Leipzig office. As of 2005 was with law firms Jones Day and Raupach & Wollert-Elmendorff. He studied law and economics at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Munich (Dr. jur. In 1969).
